George Galloway a threat to national security???

Can someone explain how George Galloway, British MP, is a threat to the national security of Canada? Harper paranoia again and hyperbole of Jason Kenney. All George Galloway is going to do is to speak at anti-war rallies. Now him speaking makes him a national security threat? Do bullets come out of his mouth? Where is Iggy on all this? What happened to freedom of speech? This one, like many of Harper's other policies, baffles me and Iggy's silence is deafening.

Also, on this, Harper is not like Bush, he's MORE extreme than Bush - as Galloway had no problem getting into the United States to give testimony to the US Senate.

  1. "Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff, speaking to reporters after a speech in Winnipeg Friday, said while he's no fan of Galloway, people can't be banned from Canada for what they may say.

"If he is being barred on free speech grounds that is an outrage," said Ignatieff. "He can come to Canada and talk rubbish all day long as far as I'm concerned."

But Ignatieff said Canadian security officials may know something he doesn't.

"If there is a security threat, that is another matter," he said."

Re-read Jason Kenney's statement on why Galloway should not be allowed into Canada. Wherever he uses the word "terrorist" substitute "communist". Does it have a familiar ring?

  3. Penlan, that is not a ringing endorsement of free speech. Iggy is saying the same thing as some Cons that Canadian security knows better.

Doz, you're quite right - fear mongering.

  4. LeDaro,

I posted that in response to your statement:

    "...and Iggy's silence is deafening."

He wasn't silent - that is the point I was making, not the content of what he said.

  5. Penlan, thanks. I did not know he said that. But after reading his statement it could have been said by Harper – weaselling.

Iggy has pretty much covered all his bases in the most weakly way no?

He believes in Free Speech, does not like what Galloway has to say and the government may know something about Galloway that makes him a danger to Canadians....

Of course we also have the JDL and Meir Weinstein making threats against peace activities and making it known that he seems to have the ear of the government...

Is there really any difference between the Liberals and the Conservatives?
Maybe for your next picture, you can have Iggy wear one of those nice t-shirt some members of the IDF have been ordering....

  7. I guess the security threat is he shook hands with saddam Hussein. So did a few others who have shaken hands with the former man from Iraq.
..... Who is Iggy a fan of?
