Stephen Harper’s Election Sensor

Up to June of this year Stephen Harper was all for an election. Now Conservative’s approval rating has dropped below 30% ( 29.7 %) and he is saying that economy is too fragile for an election. He does take Canadians for a fool. Read the full story here.

  1. i was interested to learn that 'up to June this year, Harper was all for an election'. this seems like another rewriting of history. If Harper had wanted an election, he would have had one. In fact he said repeatedly that he didn't want one.

  2. He presented a budget which he fully expected to be defeated and challenged the opposition to do so. A defeat of the budget would have meant vote of non-confidence and hence an election. A feeble opposition let it go through.
