Rachel Maddow raises some troubling questions about the assassination of Anwar al-Awlaki

"Can the United States government choose an American citizen to be executed without ever charging them with anything, without ever proving anything against them, without ever giving them a chance to defend themselves?" she wondered. 1. Under the Doctrine of I'm the President of the world's only Superpower and who's going to stop me and besides the Amerikan people have made it clear that they accept that national security trumps human rights every time.

  2. Obama is playing a self-appointed God. Ordering assassination of an American born individual is a little worrisome and I don't know where it is taking our American friends.

Sad part is that killing of Anwar al-Awlaki provides a great incentive and motivation for new recruits by Al-Qaeda. It may increase the violence instead of reducing it.

  3. Respectfully disagree, LeDaro.

An American born individual who moves to a hole in Yemen and calls for jihad against his former citizens, should not be afforded constitutional protection. In my opinion, of course.

  4. Christian,

I primarily don’t disagree with you. Question is raised about the legality of the action. Does the president have the authority to be judge, jury and executioner? Can he do the same to other Americans living in US?

Other question I was raising was that does this reduce violence? This man has parents, siblings and friends in US. Will these people become potential recruits for Al- Qaeda and do the damage? I do not know the answers and that is why I am raising all these questions.
