Bradley Manning: A hero or a traitor

I believe that all Bradley Manning did was to expose the atrocities committed by the Americans in Iraq. He is a whistle-blower. Instead of making accountable and punish those who committed these crimes in Iraq; including Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld who invaded Iraq on false pretences; Bradley Manning is being punished. He is one of the many scapegoats. This is pure injustice.

Here is an interesting comment on Manning and Snowden case on the NBC story.

"Close the Fed

"So let this be a lesson Americans,,,,,

",,,,, if you DARE tell the truth about how our corrupt government is trampling on our citizens precious Constitutional Rights, how our government spy's on both private citizens and foreign dignitaries alike, how we constantly lie to our foreign partners, how we demand the right to keep secret our war crimes in the quest of corporate profit, how we have entered wars based on lies which have cost thousands of innocent lives and left foreign countries in chaos and waste , how our government is destroying the liberties bestowed by our forefathers and constructing a bleak, controlled police state for future generations,,,,,

,,,,, then we will disparage you, hunt you, we will threaten any country that takes you in, and we will destroy your life as we gleefully destroy liberty and truth!

( Ah yes, the American way..... Our way or we will sh!t on you bub!!! )

Lightening: Hair raising experience

Michael McQuilken, right, was 18 when he and his brother,
Sean, 12, climbed California's Moro Rock in 1975.
The photo was used for years to warn about the dangers
of pending lightning strikes.

“We thought it was something funny.”

But now, nearly 38 years later, McQuilken says he recalls that deadly afternoon in the Sierra Nevada mountains vividly: The flash of white light as bright as arc welding, the deafening explosion, the feeling of becoming weightless and being lifted off the ground."

When it is cloudy and rain and lightening is
looming, stay away from the forests and mountains.

Incredible: Diplomates on strike

This got to be astonishing. Even diplomats cannot deal with Harper. They're diplomats and they're extensively trained how to deal with people of all kinds and cultures. If Harper cannot get along with diplomats then what is left.

Striking foreign service officers demonstrated outside Prime Minister Stephen Harper's
office in Ottawa on Tuesday. (Meagan Fitzpatrick/CBC News)

"The Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers (PAFSO) created a picket line outside of the Prime Minister's Office, across the street from Parliament Hill, during lunch hour.

The striking diplomats carried signs that read "Same work equals same pay" and "Canada's Frontline Abroad" while blowing whistles and using other noisemakers. A spokeswoman for Harper would not say whether the prime minister was in his office or not."

This is definitely a new chapter in the Canadian history. If diplomacy does not work with Harper then what will? Please correct me if I am wrong.

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head

All this rain reminds me of the following song:

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
And just like the guy whose feet are too big for his bed
 Nothin' seems to fit
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'
So I just did me some talkin' to the sun
And I said I didn't like the way he got things done
 Sleepin' on the job
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'
But there's one thing I know
The blues they send to meet me won't defeat me
It won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me
Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red
 Cryin's not for me
'Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'
 Because I'm free
 Nothin's worryin' me

It won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me
Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red
 Cryin's not for me
'Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'
 Because I'm free
 Nothin's worryin' me

Egypt in turmoil again

I don't understand what is going on in Egypt. First Egyptians did not want a military government. There were violent demonstrations until people succeeded to topple Hosni  Mubarak. He was charged with criminal actions of killing Egyptians and sentenced to jail. However he was ill and instead ended up in a military hospital.

Election were held in 2012 and Mohamed Morsi was elected fair and square. However, after few months Egyptians were unhappy again and more demonstrations were held. Mohamed Morsi was toppled too and the military took over again with the support of public. Yes military has appointed a President but he is just a titular of the military.

Now there are violent demonstrations and conflict between pro-Morsi and anti-Morsi groups. Is it possible that Western powers are inciting these demonstration so that Israel can do whatever it wants? There is serious turbulence in Syria and before that Libya. Again it is beneficial to Israel.

Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas against closing Gitmo

When will Americans close Gitmo? To start with, there are a lot of detainees who have not been charged with anything and the Gitmo detention centre gives a tool to extremists like Al Qaeda for new recruits.

Now Senator Ted Cruz, during a Senate hearing on Gitmo, says that Gitmo must not be closed. I believe Cruz's position is utterly idiotic and he is not helping his fellow Americans. Gitmo will not curb activities of extremists.

Anthony Weiner: Sexting continued after 2011 resignation from Congress

"New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner, who resigned from Congress in 2011 after a sexting scandal, admitted Tuesday that his Internet shenanigans didn’t stop when he stepped down in disgrace.
Hours after a gossip website published raunchy texts and explicit photos it said were from 2012, Weiner held an extraordinary press conference — accompanied by his wife Huma Abedin, an aide to Hillary Clinton — to apologize and ask voters for a second chance."

Where did the universe come from?

I don't have a clue about the beginning of the universe.

Veil_Nebula

"The Big Bang theory is an attempt to describe the creation and evolution of the universe. The theory appears to match observations, and the theoretical physics appear to hold back through time to within a tiny fraction of a second after the creation of the Big Bang. Beyond that the theory cannot explain how the Big Bang singularity came into existence. See The Big Bang Theory Indeed, it is really pointless to attempt to go back beyond the Big Bang, it is meaningless to ask what came 'before' because there is no 'before'. Time itself came into existence with the Big Bang.

Stephen Hawking in 'A Brief History of Time' describes how time and energy came into existence with the creation of the Big Bang, but that the laws of science break down at the singularity preventing us from looking further back in time. As far as the Big Bang theory is concerned it is meaningless to look back beyond the Big Bang, nothing existed. Perhaps so, but it's very unsatisfactory to have a theory of the creation and evolution of the universe that does not explain where the universe, the Big Bang, actually came from, it must have come from something. Or must it?"

Does anybody know?

Barack Obama on Trayvon Martin's case

I am very impressed by the stand Barack Obama took on the case of Trayvon Martin who was murdered by George Zimmerman.

"You know, when Trayvon Martin was first shot, I said that this could have been my son. Another way of saying that is Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago. And when you think about why, in the African- American community at least, there's a lot of pain around what happened here, I think it's important to recognize that the African- American community is looking at this issue through a set of experiences and a history that -- that doesn't go away," he said.

“There are very few African-American men in this country who haven’t had the experience of being followed when they are shopping at a department store. And that includes me.”

He also called for a review of so-called "Stand Your Ground" laws, a central issue in the case.

Nelson Mandela: The Greatest leader the world ever knew

South Africans are celebrating Nelson Mandela's 95th birthday.

I believe that Nelson Mandela is the greatest leader, he dismantled the apartheid in South Africa. I put him above any King, Queen, President, Prime Minister or any other nomenclature different countries use.

I read his autobiography few years ago. Mandela was a successful lawyer. He had a bright future but he gave it all up to fight apartheid for his fellow countrymen.

He was put in jail on a small island off the coast of South Africa. He spent 27 years of his life in jail. During the day he did hard labour - breaking rocks for construction and similar physically challenging tasks. He was beaten and kicked by the guards. At night he was kept in a solitary confinement. None of this broke his resolve.

He was finally released in 1990. He was president of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. Instead of retaliating against his tormenters,  he forgave them. He established The Truth and Reconciliation Board and through this he gave amnesty to his tormentors and others who committed similar crimes under apartheid through cruel treatment of blacks in South Africa.

I don't know any other leader who matches his greatness. I wish him well that he gets better but being 95 years old with ongoing serious health problems he may not survive. However, his great legacy, fighting injustice, will live on forever and the whole world celebrated Nelson Mandela International Day on July 18, 2013 and I hope the world will continue doing that every year.

In order to bring peace in the world, there needs to be more leaders like Nelson Mandela. However, no one can ever match his strength and determination.

Aboriginal children used for nutritional experiments - during and after World War II

These kinds of stories are troubling. It gives one a bad feeling about our history and damages the pride of being Canadian. Such experiments were done after World War II.

"First Nations leaders are demanding an apology from the federal government after it was revealed that Canada ran nutritional experiments on malnourished aboriginal children and adults during and after the Second World War. Recently published research by Canadian food historian Ian Mosby has revealed that at least 1,300 aboriginal people — most of them children — were used as test subjects in the 1940s and '50s by researchers looking at the effectiveness of vitamin supplements."

Rev. Al Sharpton speaks out on Trayvon Martin case

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
Civil rights activist Al Sharpton has announced a national movement - to protest in front of courts over the course of a year - in reaction to the verdict where George Zimmerman was acquitted for the murder of Trayvon Martin. The verdict in this case is an affront to civil rights, a black teenager, unarmed, minding his own business, was pursued and murdered.

The verdict highlights that there is still a long way to go for true civil and human rights in America, that while much progress has been made, there is still a long way to go. We are a long way from a post-racial society.

This verdict is a huge step backwards, validating racial profiling. Also, for African-Americans in Florida - or in any state with "stand your ground" laws - they have very good reason to be worried about their safety and security. After all, George Zimmerman was let off for killing an African-American teenager who was unarmed.

In the United States, there is a very strong racial bias to stand your ground laws - which Zimmerman used to get let off - against African-Americans. This chart is very telling.

Zimmerman was taken to the police station and let go, and Trayvon's parents were not notified for 24 hours, by which time their son lay dead in the hospital.

This is pure injustice.
