Senate's Conservative leader is dilly-dallying on suspensation motion

Claude Carignan, the Conservative leader in the Senate, now says that he may consider amendments to the motion to suspend Senators Mike Duffy, Patrick Brazeau, and Pamela Wallin without pay. The pressure is on.

"The leader of the government in the Senate, Claude Carignan, says he is open to amendments to a motion that, as it currently reads, would suspend three senators without pay or benefits for two years over allegations of wrongdoing with their expense claims. Carignan told Radio-Canada's television political program Les Coulisses du pouvoir that there is the potential to change sanctions that would be levelled against senators Pamela Wallin, Mike Duffy and Patrick Brazeau if the motion is approved.

Mike Duffy: Story becomes more misty

Harper has changed his tune. Now his position on the Nigel Wright and Mike Duffy money exchange story has changed. If you remember Harper initially  said that "nobody" knew about the exchange other than Wright and Duffy. Now he says 'very few people" knew about it.

Harper changed his tune Thursday, saying Wright "informed very few people" — all of them known to be key Harper confidantes.

"Mr. Speaker, I refer the prime minister to Hansard of June 5," said NDP Leader Tom Mulcair in question period on Thursday. "There was no 'very few' in there. It was 'nobody."'

Mike Duffy's happy dance

Now that Senator Duffy has gotten the stuff off of his chest, after speaking in the Senate, he does a happy dance. Is it possible that he will become the John Dean of Watergate? Nixon and buddies wanted to make John Dean the fall guy and he in return screwed them all. Nixon had to resign in disgrace. Is that the fate of Harper now?

Mike Duffy Bombshell

The full Mike Duffy speech is below (audio). According to this speech, there is a lot more to this story than initially revealed. The Prime Minister, Nigel Wright, and Duffy met. It was the Prime Minister who said the money had to be paid because of concerns about perception. This was said in the presence of Mr. Wright.

Racism: Washington Redskins Football Team

Natives find the term Redskins highly offense. It has the historic background as follows:

"Back not so long ago, when there was a bounty on the heads of the Indian people...the trappers would bring in Indian scalps along with the other skins that they had managed to trap or shoot. These scalps brought varying prices as did the skins of the animals....

The trappers would tell the trading post owner or whoever it was that he was dealing with, that he had 2 bearskins, a couple of beaver skins...and a few scalps. Well, the term "scalp" offended the good Christian women of the community and they asked that another term be found to describe these things. So, the trappers and hunters began using the term "redskin"...they would tell the owner that they had bearskin, deer skins....and "redskins." Tina Holder,  Mesa, Az.

Would it get any more offensive? Those trappers were the real barbarians.

Call it Washington Jackasses Football Team as Washington D.C. is full of jackasses(Loonies or Washington Balls Team) but don't call it Redskins. Is it that hard to understand? Bigots have come out of woodworks to defend their bigotry and racism.

Syria: U.S hypocrisy on Syria situation

First it was Assad who was murdering the civilians. U.S was all set to invade Syria. It was a matter of days according to reports in late August and early September of this year. Now the tune has changed. It is the rebels and Al-Qaida who are doing the murdering and forcing people out of Syria. Assad more or less is the victim now as his soldiers are being killed. I don't know what to believe.

Refugees carry their belongings as they cross from into
Turkey near the town of Azaz in Syria.

"These refugees are leaving the country because of Al-Qaeda according new reports.

Raffaello Pantucci, a senior research fellow with Britain’s Royal United Services Institute, said the group - which began as an evolution of al Qaeda in Iraq - was seeking a long-term foothold in the country.

“Their final goal is to create an Islamic Emirate which becomes a piece of territory which they control. And from there they will start to export jihad everywhere else,” Pantucci said.

He added they were prepared to achieve this at the expense of other Islamic groups including Jabhat al Nusra, a Syrian group with similar aims and which also has ties to al Qaeda."

Frucking Fracking for shale gas is becoming a serious problem

Premier David Alward of New Brunswick does not get it. It is not only natives who are opposed to fracking in New Brunswick, but the general public as well. Also demonstrations to support New Brunswickers are being held around the country. But Alward is stuck on frucking fracking. I believe natives and other anti-frackers are right and more New Brunswickers and Canadians should get behind them. Fracking is being done on native lands and their permission is absolutely important.

Fracking is especially deadly to drinking water.

The exploratory drilling in New Brunswick also faces opposition from the local non-aboriginal community. Allan Marsh, the chair of the nearby local service district for Saint-Charles, told CBC News that the provincial government "isn’t listening to any of the other messages that it’s getting."

Air pollution causes cancer and kills

What do the deniers of global warmer have to say about the air pollution and its detrimental impact on our health?

"It’s specifically about the danger in the air all around us. The world health organization is warning tonight that air pollution is, indeed, a major cause of cancer."

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

"From car exhaust and traffic across the country to industrial stacks spewing smoke and haze halfway around the world, we know air pollution isn't good for us, but today there is more proof of just how bad it is. The world health organization experts now conclude for the first time that exposure to outdoor air pollution and particulate matter cause lung cancer.

We can't help the air we breathe and we're all responsible for it. So …. it's important to make the point that this really needs collective public health action to solve the problem.

The industrial revolution saw the advent of air pollution. And while the United States has cleaned up its air thanks to environmental regulations, air pollution is still a significant risk factor for respiratory illnesses and heart disease. This United States map shows our air pollution hot spots. The red dot shows air quality changes by climate and season. This shows summer where the highest level of air pollution is along the eastern part of the country. (For U.S map watch the video above)."

U.S government shutdown ends but at what cost

It is estimated that the government shutdown cost the U.S $24 billion. Moreover, the country's credit rating is in doubt and international confidence in U.S credit is in doubt. Will this drama be repeated come next year?

Mark Wilson / Getty Images
Open for business, but the shutdown cost plenty. The U.S. Capitol building
is shown on the morning after a bipartisan bill was passed by the
House and the Senate to reopened the government and raise
the debt limit, on October 17, 2013.

"The shutdown also forced non-government business losses, temporary layoffs and other interruptions in business spending. The full extent of the damage won’t be known for some time. Economists at Standard & Poor’s estimate the total cost at about $24 billion, or a 0.6 percent GDP haircut. Others guess it's about half that. Either way, it's a heavy price to pay."

A drone in your neighbourhood soon.

Americans are going to issue drone driver licence for safety. That is what NRA says about guns too - that they are safe. Where are we headed?

Riley Morgan, 14, flies a home-built drone AfterDARC on Oct. 11. Morgan
has been working with drones for half a year. This drone took him two
days to build and cost around $1300 in parts.

"Others are less sure that humans, even trained ones, can be trusted at all. Drones would need to come with software-based "training wheels," or "safety bumpers," to protect amateurs and reckless pilots from harming themselves and others, Cummings said.

Just like cars are getting lane departure warnings, proximity sensors and adaptive cruise control, drones will eventually get detect-and-avoid technologies, which will give them the smarts to dodge a bird or another craft in its path. The commercial applications aren't quite ready, but mapping and sensing technologies for small drones is progressing quite briskly in research labs."

Russia: Sochi Olympics 2014 and corruption

Russian officials and businessmen have stolen billions of dollars during the years of preparations for the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, a prominent Russian opposition figure claimed Thursday.

Boris Nemtsov, a former Russian deputy prime minister-turned-Kremlin critic, and an associate said in a report released Thursday that up to $30 billion US was stolen in the run-up to the games in the southern Russian city.

Stephen Harper finally noticed in Malaysia

Sunday October 6 Stephen Harper did meet Malaysian counterpart Najib Razak.

Prime Minister Razak of Malaysia has stated that Malaysian state-owned oil company, Petronas, will invest billions in Canadian liquefied natural gas development. Now the fun starts as more pollution will be introduced in Canada. Besides China, now Malaysia is going to spend money in Canada. Harper is doing a good job to serve his masters – oil and gas companies.

Malaysian Prime Minister Mohd Najib sprung the "gargantuan" investment figure during a joint availability with Harper in Putrajaya, saying Malaysia's state-owned oil and gas company Petronas has committed to construction of a liquid natural gas plant in British Columbia and the pipeline to feed it.

"I'm told that this is the largest direct foreign investment in Canada by any country," Najib said, flanked by Harper following a formal welcoming ceremony at a sprawling new government precinct outside the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.

My Dream- No war and unpolluted earth

I watched this video on the internet. I liked it so much that I decided to post it.

Lyrics:

In my dreams there's a place without war
No more guns no more pain no more hurt
It's a world full of joy without sadness
People sing people dance with all happiness

Take me to my dream
Love is everything
Where there is no war
And then children sing
Love is all around
It's the only thing
In a dream that must come true
In my dreams there's a place where it's clean
No more waste in the air and the sea
So this place will be pure and all healthy
You can live your life in heaven_

But I know it's just a dream
Will it ever change this life?
Hope one day it'll turn around
Into the place that I dream about
Take me to this dream
Love is everything
Where there is no war
And the children sing
Love is all around
It's the only thing
In a dream that must come true

Stephen Harper gone invisible in Malaysia

His Royal Highness was ignored and non-existent in Malaysia. Both the Malaysian authorities and media ignored him. It must be hard on his Royal Highness.

"Harper's three-day stop in Kuala Lumpur, which begins Friday, is smack dab in the middle of the three-day maiden visit to Malaysia of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Many of the capital's streets have already been festooned with Chinese flags bidding welcome to Xi, his wife, Peng Liyuan, and the 100 officials who are to accompany the couple from Beijing.

Local newspapers have also been full of gushing reports about $100 billion of annual trade between the countries and a new trade and economic co-operation deal that is to be signed this weekend."
