Harper would fare poorly as a military officer, LD. That is a position built on trust and real leadership. Harper, as we know, is incapable of normal human interaction. He is suspicious of others, to the point of paranoia. He's volatile, vindictive and astonishingly cruel. In Vietnam the soldiers would let leaders like Harper get comfy in the toilet and then roll a grenade under the door.

As far as a soldier is concerned he will never be one or send his children to a war zone. Some war-monger leaders, like Harper, are cowards themselves.
